This car turns heads and starts conversations. It’s one of the things that I like most about it.

It also makes you feel good – which for me is THE most important thing that a car has to do. Forget about all the sensible considerations like practicality, boot space, fuel economy. Who cares about all that crap. The only question to ask is “does it put a smile on your face?”. And the answer for this Porsche 911 is an emphatic YES!

As well as making you feel good when you’re blasting along a twisty back road, delighting in the throaty roar of the engine and the sublime handling, you also get to experience the best that humanity has to offer – little boys jump up and down at the side of the road when they see the car pass, people ask to take photos of it and with it, and middle-aged blokes stop and chat to you about all things automotive. What could be better?

I’m also pretty sure that the ladies are seriously turned on by this car, but up until now they have been too shy to express it to me directly. It is happening though… surely.

The most common thing that people say to me when chatting about the car is “I always wanted one of those…” This is usually followed up by a story of how they almost bought one, or were going to buy one, but didn’t because it was too small, it was impractical, the wife didn’t want it, the kids were starting university, the cat died, the house burned down, because, because, because…

The point is they dreamed of owning a 911, but they never did it.

I have done it and it has been a joy.

Someone told me a long time ago that life is short and you should strive for what you want. Don’t settle for what someone else thinks you should have, or what would be more sensible.

I can almost guarantee that you’re highly unlikely to be lying on your deathbed regretting that you once bought a Porsche 911. Forget about spending £30k on a high spec ….(insert name of young model anonymous car that would be a more sensible choice)…, and buy the Porsche!
