2011 Bayliner 195 with Mercruiser 4.3 MPI 220HP (Stock Boat With Warranty) - SOLD

This Bayliner 195 is the fastest Bowrider that I have driven in a long time.

She goes like shit off a shovel. And I’ll tell you now why that’s important…

I can remember the day exactly. It was July 12th 2006. I had just taken delivery of my very first load of Rinker sportboats several weeks before and we had a beautiful demo Rinker 192 bowrider away with us for the bank holiday break. She had the 4.3l v6 motor and was a really nice running boat.

The weather was stunning. We spent all day messing around in the crystal clear waters of Sheephaven bay, we picnicked on a beach at the back strand and basically just had one of those days where you’re glad to be alive and even more glad that you decided to become a boat dealer… (short lived as that feeling was!)

Evening came, the tide was on the turn, and it was time to head back to the pier and get the boat out of the water. We clearly weren’t the only ones who had that idea, as we came across all manner of watercraft also heading back home for the day. We greet them all with a friendly wave as the bright red, brand new, Rinker powers passed them.

Then we come up on a couple in a Bayliner 195. We give them a wave as we pass them going round the last headland before the harbour. The water is calm, the sun’s still shinning and I’m just having the best time…

Then I notice the Bayliner come back up alongside us on our port side…

Oh, I see…

The race is on!

I nail the throttle and we go from 30mph to 45mph in a heartbeat. We surge ahead of the Bayliner as I think to myself I’ve put this guy in his place.

Then he pulls back up along side us and starts to nudge ahead.

And not only that, he has the nerve to stick his arm out over the side of his boat and slap the hull like he’s cracking the whip atop a thoroughbred…

I started to suspect this wasn’t his first rodeo.

I had my throttle completely nailed. I was flat out. I tried trimming the drive a bit more to nudge out that little bit more speed from the Rinker… All to no avail, I couldn’t gain any ground on the Bayliner.

Then he tired of taking the piss, put his hand back on the throttle, nailed it, and left us for dust (or in this case spray…).

He wasn’t even flat out to begin with; he was just playing with me!

It was all good craic.

But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t pain me somewhat…

When I got back into the harbour, the big shot in the Bayliner was tied up already and ahead of us in the queue for the slipway.

I went over for a chat. I was sure he must’ve been packing V8 power under the hood of the boat, but no. It was a plain old carbureted V6. The exact same motor as I had in my Rinker. She was just built with a more slippery and sure footed hull.

He thought I must’ve had a 3.0L in my boat!

Needless to say, he wasn’t interested in changing to a brand new Rinker!

…So there you go; that’s why speed matters.

This is all very juvenile I know. But for some of us it’s part of the appeal of boating!

This particular Bayliner 195 is even faster than my old nemesis, because she has the 4.3 V6 MPI, with a full 30HP more than the carburettor version. And she is a rocket ship!
