2004 Arvor 190 - SOLD

In the world of business, I’ve heard it said that success leaves clues. That is to say, nothing happens by accident.

You might see a business or an individual who is doing really well and think, ‘yeah, they must have got lucky’… But if you look more closely, you’ll see the clues they leave behind that reveal the keys to their success…. It’s never accidental.

‘What’s this got to do with boat sales?’ you might ask.

Well, people often point out that we seem to have a nice selection of really clean used boats for sale. And we do, if I say so myself. But that definitely doesn’t happen by accident…

No, I have learned to spot the clues left behind by conscientious owners; the tell-tale give-aways that point to a boat that’s been well looked after and in nice sound condition.

I can also spot the tells (from a mile off) that reveal a dodgy boat!

Sometimes the clues are obvious and sometimes they’re not, but it’s really important that you find them, because often it’s the only way to tell a boat that has been genuinely well cared for from one that hasn’t been serviced in years and has just had a quick spruce up for sale.

This Arvor 190 is one of those boats that displays so many positive clues of a pampered past, that you know you just can’t go wrong with it.

The first thing that I noticed was the red rag tied to offside outer pole of the trailer…

At first glance you might wonder what that’s all about and maybe even think it untidy. But that little red rag is doing an important job… With the boat and trailer being towed along the road the flapping rag is letting oncoming traffic know that there’s a wide load coming and to keep your distance.

This in turns tells me a couple of important things about the owner of this boat. The first is that he’s intelligent and conscientious, and the second is that he really gives a shit about his boat.

Although it’s a really simple thing, the fact that the owner took his time to do this told me pretty much straight away that this boat has been well looked after and is a good-un.

And a quick rummage around onboard confirmed this to me…

The original owners pack and VAT invoice is present and correct, all the little clips and catches are working as they should, the bilge is immaculately clean, and there’s a service history file bulging with receipts.

This is all really good.

After a quick clean and a polish this boat is really looking the part. She’s one of those boats that I know will be a joy to own.
